Art periodical page backgrounds are a lot of fun to create, and so today I have a video of three dissimilar acrylic paint art backgrounds AND a free printable of the backgrounds for y'all.

Spotter Me Create Three Acrylic Paint Background Pages

The journal I am using in the video is 1 of the Dylusions five x 8 journals. It's an older journal from a couple of years agone, filled mostly with scribbles and notes.

Nigh of the notes in the journal are old and I don't even know what the heck I wrote or why I wrote it.

Since the notes are quondam and non important, I decided to brand some art journal page backgrounds with it. These are perfect to begin with because any was written there before will but add to the layers.

Folio 1: Just Get Some Paint On the Page

My first fine art periodical background page was pretty simple – my goal was to simply go some paint on the page!

I don't really think too much about what I'grand painting or where – the goal is to only cover upwards the paper.

In the offset page, I started with a very wet brush. This gives the white paint I used a more than translucent effect.

This page is too a scrap of an example of different ways you lot can apply my same philosophy I apply for block by block periodical pages.

Page 2: Elementary Strokes, Masking & Brush Textures

The 2nd page I created I started with just up and down strokes of teal, white, orange, magenta and yellow.

Then we experimented with a trivial bit of gesso and made some swirly textures with the other end of our paint brush.

I likewise had some fun adding some stripes by masking the area I was painting with a piece of menu stock. This gives you some nice straight lines to contrast with the fuzzy paint brush strokes.

In the second folio I also explained a little about how I like to make my pages somewhat symmetrical.

For example, if I put yellowish in the right hand corner of the background, I also similar to put some yellow in the lower left or directly across on the left side of the paper.

It's totally non a dominion that you have to follow, but I do remember it helps give your eyes some management on where to get – especially when you use a colour like yellow!

Page iii: Scraping, Stamping & Stenciling

Our final and final folio is probably the messiest of them all, but I had a lot of fun scraping the page with paint using a credit card.

I also wanted to share a little bit about the differences between zinc white and titanium white paint. Zinc white does not accept as much pigment in it equally titanium white, so the zinc white is way more translucent.

The translucent outcome is even more than so noticeable when you use something like Aureate Fluid acrylics zinc white!

If you always desire to go over your different pigment textures with white only yet want the background to be visible, Golden Fluid Acrylics Zinc White Pigment is the one to go with!

Titanium white has much more pigment, and so you'll discover in the video it gets MUCH more coverage – you lot can barely see the background!

The credit card is a lot of fun to utilize to experiment with textures and blending colors- or you lot can fifty-fifty press the card into the folio to stamp some keen looking backwards numbers.

Another thing I did on the third folio was employ a piece of arts and crafts plastic to get a bully looking grid stamp/stencil effect.

It's what I had around my house – I'm sure you could use any blazon of plastic mesh/netting and take fun with different textures and patterns on the page!

Download Iii Printable Art Journal Background Pages

One of the things I talked about in the video was how sometimes I will take pictures of my artwork while it is in progress. This fashion, if later I determine I don't similar what I did, I can always go back to the betoken where I did like it!
